Photoshop experience

To aid my future profession of becoming a football journalist I have started to create a portfolio of experience including articles, and photos that go alongside them. However, I do not like the thought of someone else’s work in my portfolio and so I have edited every photo that has gone into it, and here they are:

This photo was for my SPL article, and at first, when taken from Google; the photo was in full colour. However, I wanted the two players to be the complete and utter focus of the photo and decided to Photoshop it in order to make the background black and white. to do this, I selected the whole photo before holding ALT and using the magnetic lasso tool in order to select the players and the ball as a whole, I then edited the colouring to 'black and white' and then the background went how I wanted it to. To make sure this photo was recognised as my own, I used text to write 'Edited by Ben Edkins' in the bottom left hand corner. And I took the colour from the player in order for it to stand out well.

Firstly, I gathered 3 football logos from Google, brought them all to the front posterior to enlarging them using CTRL + ALT + T. this was all for my article on Clash of the Dons. The next photo I used was also taken from Google and it was the fire, which I enlarged too, before sending it to the back, and placing it behind the 3 logos. I used fire because the team on the right is the 'phoenix club' of the top logo, and the team logo on the left is a franchise of the team on the right after that was de-franchised from the top team following liquidation. finally I edited the 3 separate photos, set them to 'linear burn' and then set the opacity on 60%, and this effect made the logos turn to a black, charred colour, which connoted 'phoenix' as they arise from the fire and flames.
