So last Friday’s magazine front cover wasn’t the most appealing thing to look at so I decided to take some drastic changes to seriously up my potential grade!
After three days of production, from Monday, Tuesday and today (Wednesday) I have changed a lot, and I will continue to do so!
So here is the newer
copy!
I have changed a lot
when it comes down to the technical side. First of all I got rid of the bottle
as it was taking up too much space while distracting the audience's attention
away from the model. After doing that I decided to enlarge my model before
adding a little noise around him to create a blurred exterior layer. I placed
my model central of the cover so that his arms looked free and could 'bang the
walls of the magazine'.
My model's eyes are
above the line of thirds which will allow him to relate to my also, teenaged
target audience. Secondly I changed the colour of the footer bar which displays
the Leeds festival ticket chance. I chose the colour blue as it is my primary
colour and black was dominating the cover beforehand.
Thirdly I arrange all
the text so that they slanted all the same way, and I got this idea from
peeking at a magazine called 'fourfourtwo' that was lying around during the
time of changes. As well as this I decided to change the colours of the text,
and by this I meant using white and black in the same sell line.
I decided to add and
exclusive sell line as I seen that on a magazine that was also laying around
the classroom. As well as this I added a 'plus' sell line which joins the Leeds
festival chance.
I added some custom
shapes and coloured them with my primary colour, I did this because I wanted it
to gain attention but at the same time, I didn’t want it to distract the attention
from my main sell line.
My man sell line took
some drastic changes, as like the sell lines I changed the colour on some
words, putting emphasis on the words in white as they are different from the
rest of the sell lines bodies. as well as this text change I changed the font
size as I wanted to add emphasis onto certain words and sentences, for example I
enlarged 'I' because as it being a first person pronoun it draws a teenage
audience as it acts as a piece of speech towards my audience as it is
personalised. As well as the letter 'I' I did it to words such as gulp and
death.
I added a small
enigma on the front cover in the way of 'budding footballer James Francis on
how orange juice saved his life' as it instantly engages the audience as they
will want to know how on earth orange juice saved someone’s life. The fact that
the person in focus is a budding footballer will attract the attention of my
male target audience.
I have added a price
to my magazine because obviously, like everyone I want to bring in some
revenue, at £2.50 per month it isn’t that much money for such a quality
magazine.
I added a picture of
Balotelli because throughout my male target audience he is very well known for
both his antics on and off the football pitch. This will also engage my target
audience to open up.
The sell line
regarding Dr.Christian will engage an audience because he is from the famous
show 'embarrassing bodies' which many a teenager watches due to its freaky
nature of people with abnormalities. As well as this is relates to the
magazine's purpose to entertain but also inform as it tells my audience what to
look out for in or on their body.
That’s it so far and I
hope to make more changes to make it even better.
